Charge Controllers
Charge controllers are a necessary part of all battery-based solar electric systems. The relatively low cost of a good charge controller will ensure maximum battery life and high efficiency throughout the life of your system. All units will protect against overcharging and nightime reverse current flow, and some will also protect against deep-discharge or increase your power production in inclement weather. Select the unit that will handle the maximum total amperage from the solar array. It is a good idea to buy a larger charge controller if you plan on expanding the system later.
