Bicultural Enhancement Program

Research has demonstrated that students, who maintain their cultural roots and identity while learning a second culture, are able to hold a healthy image of themselves and of their background, while being able to navigate their own culture and that of the hosting community.

El Centro wants to become a resource center for the upholding of culture. This includes, but is not limited, to the organization and producing of events that are special dates of the Hispanic tradition, such as Las Posadas, Cinco de Mayo, Dia de la Madre, Dia del Niño, etc.

Furthermore, El Centro will offer classes in Hispanic culture, such as history, literature, language, cooking, and art. It is our belief that enhancing the Hispanic culture for parents and their children will lead to more understanding of their own culture and of the culture in which they now inhabit.
